Straightening Out the CBD Spectrums — CBD Isolate vs. Full-Spectrum CBD vs. Broad-Spectrum CBD

CBD Isolate, Broad Spectrum, Full Spectrum and the world of CBD can be confusing with so many terms. We like to inspire confidence in those who come to us for their CBD needs. Here we will explain what each is, what the benefits are, and which spectrum product is right for you.

CBD Isolate

Unlike broad-spectrum and full-spectrum products, CBD isolate contains nothing but CBD. This odorless and tasteless powder is so well-refined that it has a CBD content of nearly 100 percent. One reason people like CBD isolate powder has to do with its purity and is one of the easiest products to dose accurately. Another pro for CBD isolate is its incredible versatility. Because this powder is odorless and tasteless, you can easily sneak it into your favorite edibles or beverages. On the downside, CBD isolate lacks the entourage effect. Typically, people need more CBD isolate powder to experience the same results as a full-spectrum or broad-spectrum CBD oil.

Full-Spectrum CBD

A full-spectrum CBD product contains multiple cannabis plant extracts, including essential oils, terpenes, and other cannabinoids, such as cannabinol.

Full-spectrum CBD products may also contain up to 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the cannabinoid in the cannabis plant that produces the ‘high’ feeling in people. However, such a low amount is not strong enough to have significant psychoactive effects.  Patients enjoy the broad benefits of Full Spectrum CBD because it offers the medicinal effects of CBD isolate with a few added benefits from other areas of the plant.

Broad-Spectrum CBD

Broad-spectrum CBD is very similar to full-spectrum CBD in that it contains additional cannabis plant compounds. Most broad-spectrum CBD products contain zero or trace amounts of THC, but there should be less than the 0.3% contained in full-spectrum products. Like full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum products may have a higher likelihood of producing beneficial health effects than CBD isolate because of the entourage effect.

Which Is Right For You?

There’s a countless number of people turning to CBD for numerous reasons. We often see people wanting relief but aren’t ready for a product containing any amount of THC; in these cases, the isolate is a better choice for them. However, for those that are seeking relief from more severe afflictions, we always suggest a full spectrum product.
