What is CBD?

Although the most popular, CBD is actually one of over 100 different phytocannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Its reputation is due to all the stories we hear, the variety of different afflictions it helps and the millions of people who are finding their solution with this plant-based therapy. From your eyes, heart, bones, teeth, even your brain and many more systems and functions of the body, how are they all affected by CBD and the other cannabinoids?

There is more research now than ever before to find out just what the true potential is. But what we do know is that they correspond to a system that is already there, residing in our cells. Once we understand just how CBD works in our body, then we can understand why it is such a versatile remedy.

How Does it Work?

It’s important to know about the endocannabinoid system (ECS) before understanding how exactly CBD works. We understand that the ECS is a network of receptors found throughout the brain and body (Receptors CB1 and CB2). Their job to maintain balance, or “homeostasis.” This is the key to unlock the potential that we see.

Your body naturally produces endocannabinoids (such as anandamide). But often our bodies can become deficient in producing cannabinoids. This imbalance can be seen throughout our bodies; chronic inflammation, immune system malfunctions, mood, digestion, insomnia, the list goes on and on. That’s where phytocannabinoids come in. They are picked up by the receptor, stimulating your balancing system.

Picture your body like your automobile, and your ECS is you. You (the ECS) are responsible for checking the brakes, that the lights work, that fluids are at healthy levels and that they are optimal for performance. However, life gets in the way. You’ve always used the cheapest gas, you haven’t changed the oil as often as you should, and your brake light has been out for a week (in our actual lives this is poor diet, lack of exercise, too much stress, not enough sleep.

You know, the maintenance for ourselves that life always keeps us from). Your car is going to need some help at some point. Well, phytocannabinoids are the mechanics that we have to call to clean up the mess that life has put us in.

What’s Special About CBD Isolate? Is It Right For Me?

CBD isolate is just the CBD compound, detached from those other 100 phytocannabinoids. The phytocannabinoids are removed from the plant using a CO2 extraction method, followed by a refinement process that strips away all other phytocannabinoids leaving isolated CBD. The benefit here is that there is no THC for those who want to try plant-based therapy but prefer to stay away from THC (THC is the cannabinoid that is linked to the euphoric “high” sensation).

Many different people are finding the alleviation they need from all types of CBD products, where it be an isolate or a full spectrum, tincture or topical, or even in a capsule they talk along with their other vitamins as a daily regiment.
